Chicken Meatballs/ Kofta

Chicken meatballs/ kofta/ meatloaf - a mouthwatering appetizer needs no introduction to a chicken lover! If you are making them for a cocktail party, cook and then skewer them to make a perfect finger food. Serve with mint chutney and crunchy salad. This recipe makes around 12 pcs.

You need:

Minced chicken – 250 grams
Onions – 1 small (very finely chopped)
Garlic – 4-5 (very finely chopped)
Green chili – 3-4 (finely chopped)
Coriander leaves/ Cilantro – handful (finely shopped)
Mint leaves – 2-3 (finely chopped) (don't use more as it will over power the taste of chicken)
Salt
Cumin powder – ½ tsp
Coriander powder – ½ tsp
Red chili powder – ½ tsp
Garam masala – ½ tsp
Cinnamon powder –  1/8 tsp (optional)
Nutmeg powder – 1/8 tsp (optional)
Egg – ½
Gram flour – ½ tbsp
  1. Mix all the ingredients really well.
  2. Divide this mixture into 12 equal parts.
  3. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
  4. Pat a little water on your palms and roll each portion  into a round ball.
  5. Heat a little oil on a non stick pan and cook the meatballs on medium high for 2-3 min.
  6. Reduce the flame and cook for another 2-3 min turning intermittently to brown all sides evenly. Once you know they are cooked through, jack up the flame and make it nice golden brown on all sides.
  7. Serve hot with mint chutney, tamarind chutney and sliced onions!
